Energy Management System is one more management system which is generally implemented by organizations after Quality, Environment and Occupational Health & Safety Management systems. Energy is very commonly used by various organizations for carrying out the processes. Electrical energy is mostly used for various purposes including heating, motors, furnaces, lighting, utilities etc. Irrespective of which type of energy is used by organizations, the conservation of the energy is a permanent goal of the organization. Energy is natural and national resource. Particularly the primary and natural sources such as coal, fossil fuel, water, minerals need to be conserved. The focus is shifting on renewable energy types such as solar, wind, tidal. Mankind will remain dependent of natural resources for generating the energy. 

The ISO standard on Energy Management system depicts the requirements for improving the energy performance of the organization. May it be the application of energy or consumption of energy or efficiency of energy using equipment by all ways and means the energy could be saved.
